Day Twenty-Seven

The Scourging at the Pillar

Jesus takes the beating for us.

What should be whipped out of you?  What is your besetting sin, the sin that you are most prone to and that most messes up your life?
  • Lust
  • Gluttony
  • Greed
  • Sloth
  • Wrath
  • Envy
  • Pride
You've probably given in to all of the above.

Let us pray a decade of the Rosary, meditating upon the Scouring of Our Lord, who took that beating only because of your sins and mine.  And let us pause at each Hail Mary to consider one of the Seven Deadly Sins (the bullet points above) - and let us consider how and when we are most tempted to give in to these sins and how we rationalize away these sins when we give in to them.

Then, for the remaining three Hail Marys, let us ask for the corresponding virtues to combat the three deadliest sins that we are most prone to.

Let us pray ...

To you, Immaculate Heart of Mary, we consecrate ourselves – our hearts, minds, wills and lives and all those works we undertake so they may be for the glory of God, for the sake of the Gospel and the salvation of souls. Holy Mother, our Queen and our Joy, give to our hearts the dimensions of yours and form us in the image of your beloved Son.
