Never hoped to see The Surprise and I'll turn on my neglected TV for it. Any chance of Dorothy L. Sayers' series of radio plays, The Man Born To Be King? Maybe they're not quite orthodox, but they have e.g. an interesting take on St. Dismas: he's humoring Jesus out of pure charity to an apparent lunatic, and only when Jesus assures him of Paradise does he believe.
