Christ without the Cross

“A God without wrath brought men without sin into a Kingdom without judgment through the ministrations of a Christ without a Cross.”
― H. Richard Niebuhr, The Kingdom of God in America

Vatican City, Mar 14, 2013 / 12:23 pm (CNA/EWTN News).- The day after he was elected, Pope Francis emphasized that every believer – including bishops, cardinals and Popes – must proclaim Jesus crucified to be true Christians. ...
"[Peter says] I will follow you, but let's not speak of crosses! [see Mat. 16:22-23] This has nothing to do with it. I will follow you with other possibilities, without the Cross,’” he said, characterizing Peter’s reaction.
“And, if we walk without the Cross, how much do we build without the Cross? And, when we confess Christ without the Cross, then we are not disciples of the Lord.”
The Pope then applied his words to himself and his brother cardinals, saying, “We might be bishops, priests, cardinals and Popes, but we are not disciples of the Lord” if we leave the Cross behind.
Unreality, rampant in the Church, a condition embraced by both "conservative Catholics" and "liberal Catholics", is simply Christ without the Cross.  It is shallow friends and bad hymns; it is Catholics embracing contraception on the left and torture & lying on the right because these sins are so convenient; it is love without passion, worship without awe, bishops without a backbone, art without a center.

It is the spirit of antichrist.
